Shaw Bransford & Roth, a leading federal employment law and federal practice law firm located in Washington, D.C., is seeking qualified applicants to join their dedicated team of government and public affairs professionals as the Legislative and Communications Associate.

This position is a part of the government and public affairs team and will work on behalf of multiple clients, providing both legislative and lobbying support in addition to internal and external communications functions.

A substantive position with a breadth of opportunity for growth, the duties of the Legislative and Communications Associate include, but are not limited to:

--Drafting internal and external communications materials, including press statements, op-eds, member communications and weekly newsletters
--Maintaining and building relationships with key media through rapid response and proactive pitching, in addition to maintaining press lists and updating social media accounts
--Preparing clients for media appearances and Congressional hearings and meetings
--Drafting client testimony, legislative correspondence and regulatory comments
--Representing clients at meetings on Capitol Hill and at coalition meetings
--Monitoring and tracking key legislation and attending relevant Congressional hearings and events
--Conducting research as needed for clients and long-term projects such as white papers and surveys, as well as other legislative related issues

This is an entry to mid-level position that will report to the Director of Government Affairs and will directly correspond with clients on a day-to-day basis. Candidates should be outgoing, with the ability to take initiative and work independently, in addition to multi-tasking and managing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Previous experience on Capitol Hill is not necessary, but is a plus.

Requirements for this position include:

--Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
--Proven oral and written competencies
--Knowledge of the federal legislative process
--Attention to detail and deadlines
