Additional tasks will include preparing morning news clips and attending Capitol Hill events. The ideal candidates should have a strong interest in event management and communications. This person will develop skills in all aspects of event logistics, as she or he will participate in the various stages of event planning and management, from conception to execution. Roles and Responsibilities:

--Assist in the planning and implementation of all CWA events for the spring/winter semester, including on-site help for events in the D.C. area (2-3 per semester)

--Manage the volunteer outreach program for all spring/winter events, including but not limited to:

--Recruit and maintain correspondence with volunteers leading up to each event

--Oversee 20+ volunteers on-site with various onsite logistics

--Follow up with volunteers after events through surveys and social media

--Update volunteer records

--Work closely with vendors and company partners in planning details

--Research and compile data for possible venues and vendors for upcoming events

--Other office administrative tasks, as assigned

Requirements and Qualifications:

This internship is open to current undergraduate students or recent college graduates, majoring in event management, communications, or other related fields. Applicants must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be highly organized, and maintain a strong and positive work ethic. Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel is required. A flexible schedule is also required on event days.

Internship Details:

We are a fun, vibrant team, expecting a high level of effort and excellence. Our office is located in the heart of Georgetown. The Events Intern is required to spend a minimum of 20 hours per week assisting the CWA team. However, a flexible schedule is required around the time of events as longer hours may be required. This is an unpaid internship, however college credit is available. The internship will begin in January 2015 and end in March 2015 (exact start and end dates are flexible, but we appreciate the earliest start date possible).
