DCPA+CJ Bicentennial

It's our 200th post! And, this Saturday, we're having fireworks in cities all around the country to celebrate! Bring the whole family.

The Knowledge Products Associate for Collaborative Communications helps manage, research, write, and produce high-quality print publications and online products. A minimum of 2-4 years experience managing projects and publications in a deadline-driven environment is required.

Ergo helps their clientele make crucial business decisions through networks of experts and sources across the globe. They seek a 2009 college graduates of the very highest caliber for Research/Admin Internship; self-starters, hard-workers and possessors of technological savviness (or maybe even savvy) desired.

Drop everything and get Homeland Security on the line: DCPA+CJ has uncovered information on Project Nur, a secretive plot by the American Islamic Congress to … um … wait a sec … to build positive relationships by building bridges between Muslim and non-Muslim students? OK then – tell the DHS folks to never mind – and check out AIC’s Program Manager position for the project.

Staying on the religious advocacy beat: Project Interchange, an institute of the American Jewish Committee, brings policy makers and opinion leaders to Israel to learn firsthand about Israeli society and the quest for Middle East peace. They’re in the market for an Assistant Director, External Relations for outreach and alumni relations work.

And, finally, in the spirit of equal time, Christian social justice group Sojourners seeks a senior Communications Director (scroll down) to direct and lead the media and strategic messaging aspect of its mission. Quite naturally, they’re looking for candidates with experience in media that can be related to faith and public life and politics from the perspective of Christian faith. They also note development and advertising sales opportunities available.

Public Opinion Strategies – a GOP-oriented political and public affairs research company – is seeking to fill a Research Assistant position in their Old Town Alexandria HQ. $30k-$32k plus possible post-election bonus pay.

The American Association of Poison Control Centers surely does outstanding work supporting this important public safety cohort – but we like them for their rather to-the-point logo at left, which is also repeated in a fashion on their website. Hopefully, as their next Communications Manager, you’ll be able to convince them to print up some polo or t-shirts sporting the logo; we’ll take a size L.

The American Chiropractic Association is looking for some crack staff additions:
NumbersUSA, a non-profit immigration-reduction (but not immigrant-bashing, they stress) group is seeking a high-energy, highly motivated person with relationship and grassroots-organizing skills to serve as National Director for their new online Local Power Initiative. $53k-$73k.

Ten+ years experience in international business, business organizations, with strong knowledge of economic and political relationships in Brazil will your consideration for Executive Director, Brazil-US Business Council with the US Chamber of Commerce. Salary in mid-$100k range.

The heading reads Government Relations Director (search DC location or job number 090018183) with JPMorgan Chase, but the position is also referenced as Vice President of International and Federal Government Relations in the text. Either way, it appears that you’ll need demonstrated strong and effective lobbying experience in both domestic and foreign regions, along with solid governmental/institutional relationships and political smarts.

Tran Recruiting is helping a nameless nonprofit to secure an Interim Researcher (note: pdf link) for a full time assignment lasting at least two months. Experience related to education or educational advancement a plus. Apply by July 2.

Opportunities with the thank-you-for-not-smoking crew at the American Legacy Foundation:
Purdue University – self-proclaimed cradle of astronauts, educator of half of the nation's engineers, economic engine of the State of Indiana and the Midwest – is looking for a Senior Vice President of External Relations for leadership in messaging, outreach, and, in particular: fundraising. West Lafayette, IN – search managed by Witt/Kieffer – apply by July 6.

The American Political Science Association (APSA) seeks Director, International and Departmental Relations to lead international initiatives and its programs in support of academic departments in the US and abroad. A Ph.D. in political science or the equivalent is preferred.

CNN/Time Warner have the call out for Fall 2009 Public Relations Intern (search req # 113142BR or DC location). Application deadline is Aug. 14 – but we suggest not waiting. We see a lot of other DC internships recently posted there, as well.

And, finally – we just found this interesting-sounding opportunity (but there's a catch) – a well-paid Intern/Developmental Opportunity with a Community and Liaison Office of the Internal Revenue Service – $50k – apply by July 2. Here's a different link we found. Now the catch: that original link is a little suspicious-looking (looks like a screen capture), and we can't find anything about this in the IRS careers website. Maybe you'll have better luck.
